Treasure all of these things

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19.

Sometimes we need to sit back and ponder all the things we have been given. I just finished my Christmas tradition of watching the Nativity. David and I watched it every Christmas evening for years. I would turn off the lights and have just the Christmas tree lights giving off their warm glow. And every year, without fail, I tear up as I watch the emotion in Mary’s face as she looked to Joseph and her precious baby. She was gifted this miracle, not only in the baby but in being chosen to be a part of this experience. She would have many tough experiences ahead of her. As the chosen mother of this Messiah, it would include being the mother of the Man who would die for all of us. God knew when He chose her what would lie ahead. He knew the strength she would need in the journey to Bethlehem, and in the journey to Golgotha. God knew and He chose her for all of it. She would carry the weight with His help. She would not be alone.

We are each given a gift. He is for all mankind. He is for us. You too are part of God’s plan.

Ponder your experiences. Ponder your gifts. Ponder your place in God’s plan. You are chosen for a specific path, and God will be there through every step of the way.

Treasure up all these things.
